Hospitality Management Minor

The Hospitality Management Minor provides students from other majors the opportunity to gain experience in the industry. Since the industry works with multiple disciplines in corporate settings, a minor in this field can increase the employment opportunities for non-hospitality majors.

Minor Requirements

Business Majors will complete 18 credits to obtain the Hospitality minor.

Non-Business majors will complete two required business courses, in addition to the 18 Hospitality credits, for a minimum of 25 credits.

Required Courses:

HM 110 - Introduction to the Hospitality Management 3 Credit Hours
HM 190 - Internship I 1 Credit Hour
HM 230 - Tourism Principles 3 Credit Hours

Choose any 4 of the following: Total Hours = 12

HM 247 - Hospitality Information Technology 3 Credit Hours
HM 257 - Lodging Operations Management 3 Credit Hours
HM 258 - Guest Services Management 3 Credit Hours
HM 260 - Fundamentals of Food & Beverage 4 Credit Hours
& Lab (HML-260)
HM 430 - Event Management 4 Credit Hours
HM 322 - Food & Beverage Leadership 3 Credit Hours
Any (2) 300 - 400 Level Hospitality Elective

HM 231 - International Study Abroad 3 Credit Hours
HM 255 - Hospitality Purchasing and Cost Control 3 Credit Hours
HM 432 - Conference and Convention Management 3 Credit Hours
HM 440 - Vacation Ownership & Resort Development 3 Credit Hours
HM 443 - Facility Engineering/Maintenance; Layout/Design 3 Credit Hours
