NU 279 - Nutrition for Nursing

3 Credit Hours
This course is an introduction to the interrelationships among nutrition, food and the environment as they impact health. Emphasis is placed on the multiple factors that influence food intake and the sum total of nutritional processes resulting in optimal physiological function.  The role and function of the nurse in health promotion and wellness throughout the lifecycle will be addressed.  Identification of the role of nutrition and chronic diseases, and the nurse’s involvement in assessment, screening, and prevention is the focus of the course.
