The Bachelor of Arts in English prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities in which strong skills in written and oral communication, creativity, and critical thinking are essential. Bethune-Cookman University English majors can choose from several academic concentrations that lead to specializations in Africana Studies, Texts and Technology, Professional Writing, or Traditional Literary Studies. Each focus area opens doors to fulfilling professional work across diverse fields, including publishing, teaching, writing, government and legal affairs, digital content creation, and research.

Second Semester
- EN 421-424 Special Topics 3 Credits
- EN 431-434 Major Authors 3 Credits
- English Major Elective 3 Credits
Notes:
~ English Elective can be another Special Topic (EN 421- 424). Major Author (EN 431- 434), or an Internship Course (EN 490). ALL DECLARED students MUST see a Student Success Coach FOR THE FIRST SIXTY HOURS OF DEGREE COMPLETION to review the details of the vertical curriculum and prerequisites requirements. GE = General Education Courses * Based on your placement testing scores, these courses may require prerequisites which may extend the number of semesters needed to complete degree requirements.
