Dance Studies Minor

Students minoring in Dance Studies will take a variety of courses that allow them to explore various dance techniques and the role of dance in community and culture. Students who minor in Dance Studies will continue to hone their technical skills as well as develop a historical and theoretical understanding of the connection between dance and culture in relation to their own creative work, as well as deepening their scholarly appreciation for the art form.

The minor is divided between classes based in dance technique and production and classes in history and theory. Reflecting the curriculum structure found in similar programs, the 18 hours required for the minor are selected from several courses that students are able to choose from in order to balance the choice for a specific genre or technique, as well as the theoretical choices that offered variety for the various possible career paths.
