MAT 241 - Calculus I

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Appropriate score on a Bethune-Cookman mathematics placement test or a grade of “C” or higher in both MAT 143  and MAT 136  , a grade of “C” or higher in both MAT 143  and MAT 144 , or equivalent transfer credits in pre-calculus and trigonometry. Corequisite: MATL 241  Calculus I Lab . This is a first course in Calculus designed to instill critical thinking skills and knowledge of the techniques of calculus. Topics include limits and continuity; derivatives; applications of derivatives; differentiation rules; mean value and intermediate value theorems; extrema; definition and interpretation of the integral; anti-derivatives; fundamental theorem of calculus.
