NU 281 - Fundamentals of Nursing6 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Nursing Program. A theory/laboratory course which focuses on foundational concepts necessary for safe, quality, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse patient population while integrating legal and ethical responsibilities of the professional nurse. Introduces caring, critical thinking, the nursing process, and communication techniques used when interacting with patients and members of the interdisciplinary team, and explains evidence-based nursing practice. This course includes the acquisition of foundational psychomotor skills and the application of these skills in a laboratory and structured clinical setting. (FA,SP)
