Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Biology Education is designed for students who plan to teach Biology in grades 6-12.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Education is designed for students who plan to teach Business in grades 6-12.

The Bachelor of Arts in English Education is designed for students who plan to teach English in grades 6-12. 

The Bachelor of Science in Physical Education is designed for students who plan to teach physical education in grades K-12. 

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Education is designed for students who plan to teach Music in grades K-12.

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Education is designed for students who plan to teach Social Science in grades 6-12.

Biology Education 6-12

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Biology Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Florida Education Accomplished Practices as measured by a passing score on the Professional Florida Teacher Certification Exam. 
2. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Biology Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of Biology subject area competencies as measured by a passing score on the Biology Education Subject Area Florida Teacher Certification Exam. 
3. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Biology Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Teacher Dispositions as measured by a comprehensive score of basic from the senior internship Teacher Candidate Dispositions Ratings Form triangulated by the University Supervisor, Cooperating Teacher, and Self-evaluation.

Business Education 6-12

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Business Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Florida Education Accomplished Practices as measured by a passing score on the Professional Florida Teacher Certification Exam. 
2. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Business Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of Business subject area competencies as measured by a passing score on the Business Education Subject Area Florida Teacher Certification Exam.

English Education 6-12

Student Learning Outcomes

4. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in English Education/ESOL Endorsement offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of competencies required for state ESOL endorsement as measured by a score of basic on the ESOL portfolio.

Mathematics Education 5-9

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices in simulated teaching environments in early field experiences and student teaching internship experiences by obtaining a minimum score of 80% on the rubric evaluation of the professional portfolio and a passing score on the appropriate Florida Teacher Certification Examination tests.
2. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Elementary Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the mathematics competencies that are appropriate for the certification.
   

Physical Education K-12

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Physical Education K-12 offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Florida Education Accomplished Practices as measured by a passing score on the Professional Florida Teacher Certification Exam. 
2. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Physical Education K-12 offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of Physical Education subject area competencies as measured by a passing score on the Physical Education Subject Area Florida Teacher Certification Exam. 
3. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Physical Education K-12 offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Teacher Dispositions as measured by a comprehensive score of basic from the senior internship Teacher Candidate Dispositions Ratings Form triangulated by the University Supervisor, Cooperating Teacher, and Self-evaluation.

Social Science Education 6-12

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students who desire to earn a degree in education and who seek to receive a teaching certificate in Social Science Education offered at Bethune-Cookman University will demonstrate mastery of the Florida Education Accomplished Practices as measured by a passing score on the Professional Florida Teacher Certification Exam.
