LEAD 615 - Cognition, Communication, and BehaviorCredits: (3 semester hours) In this course, the student studies leadership theory with a concentration on cognitive style and psycho-neurological aspects of a leader’s performance, behavioral aspects of leadership including the use of power, aggressive versus avoidant tendencies and security issues, the communications styles of leaders including clarity of intention, and relationship theory. The student studies the interaction of these factors through readings from the literature of leadership, psychology, communication and adult education. Critical reflection will be introduced through the use of case studies and other readings to challenge the students to resolve ethical issues while analyzing the interpersonal communication and behavioral responses of the actors in the case studies.
