ES 246 - Environmental Microbiology 3 Credit Hours This course will focus on the interactions that microorganisms have with each other and with their environment. Students will study the vital role of microbes in marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems by exploring the dynamic microbial response to continually-changing environmental conditions. Specific areas of focus include microbial contamination and methods of controlling microbial growth, enzyme and growth kinetics, cell structure and physiology, microbial genetics, and biogeochemical cycles. Corequisite: ESL 246 Prerequisite: ES 241 and ESL 241 , or instructor permission.
