MAT 143 - Applied Calculus I, Honors

This course meets the general education requirement for the first course in mathematics. This course is designed to assist Honors freshmen in the development of a clearer, more precise, and individualistic style in both oral and written concepts of mathematics through intensive study, and practice in efficient mathematics problem-solving and writing techniques. This course includes polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; derivative and integration of trigonometric functions; limits; chain rule. Students are encouraged to investigate mathematical ideas and processes algebraically, numerically, as well as graphically. This course cannot be substituted for MAT 241, MAT 242, or MAB 138.
Prerequisite: Placement through the Honors Program.
