MAT 143 - Applied Calculus I, Honors 3 Credit Hours This course meets the general education requirement for the first course in mathematics. This course is designed to assist Honors freshmen in the development of a clearer, more precise, and individualistic style in both oral and written concepts of mathematics through intensive study, and practice in efficient mathematics problem-solving and writing techniques. This course includes polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; derivative and integration of trigonometric functions; limits; chain rule. Students are encouraged to investigate mathematical ideas and processes algebraically, numerically, as well as graphically. This course cannot be substituted for MAT 241 , MAT 242 , or MAB 138. Prerequisite: Placement through the Honors Program.
