GR 231 - Introduction to Gerontology3 Credit Hours An overview of the social science of gerontology including age changes, age differences, period effects, and psychosocial changes of aging as well as elderly adaptation to retirement, leisure pursuits, finances, societal disengagement and Independency/dependency. Gerontology research design and issues. Emphasis is on a holistic, preventive approach to the study of gerontology and to providing services for the well and non-well elderly. (FA,SP)
