NU 112 - Introduction to Nursing

3 Credit Hours
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of the nursing profession. It is designed to assist students in developing learning strategies to successfully navigate educational, professional, career, and personal goals. Students will gain insight into what it means to be a professional nurse, to appreciate the history of nursing, to understand and appreciate nursing’s values, standards, and ethics; to recognize social and economic factors that influence professional practice; and to appreciate the need for lifelong learning. The course also explores medical terminology, dosage calculation, and test taking strategies.
